Anchor Graphics, An Interview With Owner, Leslie Goolsby

Anchor Graphics Label and More Inc. is located in McKinney, Texas and is the premier label making and custom graphics company in the area for the past 30 years. They specialize in industrial signage, along with private printing jobs geared towards high end companies in industrial specialties.
Other industries they work primarily with besides waste management are cellular wireless services, towing companies, and property management firms. Anchor Graphics is one of our favorite advertisers at ALW Magazine, so we’re proud to bring you some extra information about their company. Here’s a little bit more about their industry in this interview with owner, Leslie Goolsby. She’s been in the business since her family started it all those years ago and loves to build strong relationships with her customers, who she treats like family!

How did you get started in the label making and printing business?
I’ve been here for 30 years in September and I own the business now. I started in my teens, literally, with it being run by my mother and I. She just retired.

How much of your business is in the industrial sector?
All of our business is the industrial sectors. We don’t have a storefront, it’s just a manufacturing facility that does all kinds of custom printing and label making.

How many clients do you serve on average per month?
I would say we serve about in the neighborhood of 300-400 customers each month. We do have an office where customers can come in to pick up stuff they get printed from us, but we are a manufacturing facility mostly.

How many workers do you employ throughout your facility?
We have 22 employees in total. The breakdown is about four sales people up front in our office, a marketing person, two graphic art designers, and basically the rest are production back in the printing shop.

Is some of your business national or mostly Texas based?
We do business nationwide, basically we are what they call a “niche marketing” thing. We go into certain industries where we become their whole printing supplier. While we do the wastewater industry, they are are smallest of the main companies that we serve. The largest is the cellular industry. We also do towing and septic as well, just to name a few of the major ones we service.

What makes you stand out from your competitors?
Our differentiator is that are customers are our family basically, we are very into personalized service. We don’t do automated phones and answering. Our salespeople will guide you through what you need from start to finish, and we don’t push you over to different places. You’ll deal with one person who goes out of their way for you to make sure your needs are met. We take care of your needs individually all the way through the process, which is why we stand out from the rest.
