I'm not sure how much Facebook helps marketers promote products/services in certain industries just yet (especially when it comes to B2B efforts). However, whether or not customers turn to Facebook for information about business matters, having a Facebook page where fans can like your business is free and can help improve your main website's SEO rankings. It doesn't take much time to set up a page either. My two cents: Say yes to Facebook.

In today's world, it's all about interaction, information and engagement. I see it more and more in our business: people want to be talked to, listened to and informed. They want to know why we're performing certain services and how they can learn more. That has changed quite a bit from what people used to want. Facebook is a great way to interact, inform and engage users.

GapVax began a facebook page in the fall of 2009, we currently have 59 fans and it seems to be quite effective for our company as we can share minute by minute updates, photos, videos, and other information. I think the most important thing is designating someone from your company to keep the content fresh so people do have a reason to keep coming back or recommend that others become a fan to stay connected to what's happening
